Joseph Ottinger New Youth Director

The Ohio Conference Executive Committee has voted to extend a ministry call to Pastor Joseph Ottinger to serve as conference Youth Director starting January 1, 2023.

“Pastor Jo comes to us with a rich and broad background in pastoral and youth ministry,” praises Bob Cundiff, Ohio Conference President. “Through his career, he has filled ministry roles of senior pastor, young adult pastor, and academy chaplain.”

Pastor Jo Ottinger and his wife Paula have been married for over 26 years now after meeting at Southern Adventist University.  They are the proud parents of Abby, Emily, Sam & Bella.  As a family, they love travel and outdoor activities.  They have visited numerous National Parks within the continental United States and have experienced many cultures and countries around the world.

Edward and Mariya Marton Accept Call

After 21 faithful years of service within the Ohio Conference, it is with bittersweet emotions we bid farewell to Edward and Mariya Marton as they move to accept a call in the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference January 1, 2023.

Edward has served 14 years in Ohio as senior pastor, and another 7 years as conference youth director. He will serve our sister conference as their new youth director and oversee the running of summer camp at Indian Creek Camp.

Mariya will join Edward as Kentucky-Tennessee associate youth director. Over the decades here in Ohio, she has served as chaplain in the Kettering Health Network, senior pastor, and as associate youth director for the conference.

“Pastor Ed and Pastor Mariya’s ministry in the Ohio Conference has spanned the decades,” praises Ohio Conference President, Bob Cundiff. “During this time they have pastored numerous local churches, built up the ministry of Camp Mohaven, initiated the Growing Young program, baptized, preached, evangelized and touched countless lives for Christ. They go with our richest blessing and with every expectation that their ministry in the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference will be just as impactful. The administration has assured them that that the door to come home to Ohio will always remain open!”

Damaging Storm Hits Camp Mohaven

During the night of Monday, June 13, Camp Mohaven was hit by a Tornado/Direcho (possibly multiple). Thanks to God’s mercy we can report that every camper, staff, and person on site is safe and unharmed.

We would like to praise our Summer Camp staff who did an excellent job during this crisis. They executed the Camp Mohaven emergency action plan flawlessly, rushing all to safety in time before the storm struck.

This week’s summer camp is canceled and parents have been contacted to pick up their children. There is no power at camp and much cleanup work to do, so Mohaven is closed the remainder of this week. We are hoping to have summer camp back in session next week, but will keep the public updated as the situation develops.

Thank you for your prayers and thank you to all who are currently at Camp Mohaven working tirelessly to bring the camp back to function.  If you would like to support Camp Mohaven through the “Camp Mohaven Endowment Fund,” you can do so through our easy giving link:
